Billy T’s car-buying tips
Billy T. James brought laughter to hundreds of thousands of people with numerous skits over the years, including this one entitled “Beginner’s Guide to Buying a Car”.
The legendary Kiwi comedian released this sketch at the height of his fame in the 1980s and in it he explains how to “get the best deal for you fullas”.
His tactics include switching price labels, choosing the right salesman and pretending “oil is coming out of the diff” of a vehicle to help drive down its price.
After securing a series of deductions, including for four new tyres, Billy T’s character notes the price is nearly the same as another vehicle on the lot.
“What a rip-off. I may as well just buy this one,” he tells the dealer before hilariously landing himself a bargain.
