Dealer group shifting to super-site

Armstrong’s has announced it is taking over a two-hectare site in Mt Wellington and will be transforming it into a new dealership for Auckland City Toyota.

The privately-owned group says the site at 8 Forge Way, which was previously occupied by Fleet Partners, will increase the dealership’s size and capacity more than five-fold and allow it to accommodate more than 500 cars.

Auckland City Toyota is currently situated on a smaller neighbouring site and it is expected to be up and running at the new location in the second quarter of next year. 

The 4,000-square-metre floor area of the Forge Way building will house a showroom on the lower level, customer facilities, a parts area, 24 service bays, wash bays and there will be plenty of customer parking.

Troy Kennedy, chief executive officer of Armstrong’s, says: “This is a very important part of our on-going growth plan for the group. 

“Toyota is a key brand for us in Auckland with dealerships in Grey Lynn, Greenlane, and now a new super-site in Mt Wellington from early next year.  

“This move allows us to have significantly more sales and service capacity in a key Auckland location. 

“With a high quality second-floor office facility included in the complex that can house around 70 staff, we are using the opportunity to consolidate our head office, our distribution businesses and retail call centre into one complex.”

The office consolidation is expected to happen several months after Auckland City Toyota becomes operational.

The latest development for Armstrong’s is part of its growth plans for Auckland with new facilities recently opened in Greenlane for Peugeot and Citroen, a new dealership in Botany covering Nissan, Peugeot and Citroen, and the expansion of the Auckland City Toyota dealership in Greenlane.

Land has also been secured in Botany for three new dealerships that are planned to open in 2023.
