Car sales bounce back

Sales activity at dealerships across the country has bounced back with 791 dealers selling cars last week, up from just 545 in the previous week, according to Apexdealerdata.com.
Another key figure that increased over the same period was the number of sales per dealership rising by 33 per cent from nine to 12.
The average number of days to sell a car came in at 64 last week, which was also an improvement on the previous week when it stood at 67.
Apexdealerdata.com’s AI-driven decision engine also shows 18 per cent of stock nationwide last week was classed as underpriced by $2,375.
The figures are part of the weekly Apexdealerdata.com market report, which appears every Monday on Autofile Online.
Matt Grant, chief executive, notes one dealer group using the Apex platform bought three cars last week and after pricing the vehicles using the online system sold them all in under three days with an average $4,500 margin.
“They have gone from having to wait two hours to turn around a trade-in appraisal to 3.2 secs and … most importantly close more sales,” he says.
Grant adds Apexdealerdata.com is in the process of adding a number plate look-up function to its system. For more details, visit www.apexdealerdata.com.
