AA keeps industry moving

AA Motoring Services is keen to support the automotive industry and is continuing entry compliance work on vehicles following the elevation of Covid-19 alert levels.

Most of its sites and services are operating after Auckland went to alert level three on August 12 and the rest of the country shifted to level two. The restrictions are in force until midnight on August 14, although the government is set to announce earlier that day whether they will be extended.

Jonathan Sergel, general manager of AA Motoring Services, says: “We aim to help the trade at this time. We will adapt and change quickly if government requirements change.”

He adds all auto centres, vehicle inspections and entry compliance centres are open and pre-purchase inspections are continuing.

The AA Vehicle Testing Station in Glen Innes, Auckland, is the only site closed to the public because of the inability to maintain adequate physical distancing there.

“We’ve closed the reception areas at our Auckland AA auto centres and implemented contactless vehicle drop off and pick up,” he explains.

“That’s the biggest change our Auckland customers should notice. Outside of Auckland, our auto centre reception areas are remaining open for now, as we can ensure our team members and customers have one-metre physical distancing in them, as required at level two.”

AA Motoring says it has strict cleaning and hygiene measures in place across all its sites.

Meanwhile, AA Roadservice is available nationwide to mobilise breakdowns for essential services, essential personal movement and for emergency situations.  This includes AA members whose vehicles need assistance during essential travel such as going to the supermarket or pharmacy, and the essential service workforce.
