View from the Outback on EVs
The environmental credentials of the infrastructure required for electric vehicles (EVs) has come under some tongue-in-cheek scrutiny by an Australian driver making his way through the Outback.
While EVs are often lauded for their green qualities, the person presenting the video notes a recharging station situated in the Nullarbor Plain of southern Australia may not be doing all it can to help the planet.
“The first thing you need to do when becoming environmentally friendly is cut a few trees down because you’re going to need some palettes to put your diesel fuel on,” he comments.
The driver continues that diesel is required to help power a generator featuring “natural” metal and copper wires, which provides electricity for vehicles to charge their batteries. “Saving the world one step at a time. Start thinking about it,” he says.
