Mercedes-Benz Cars New Zealand has announced two new variants of its all-electric EQA and EQB models will deliver added range, extra standard equipment and new styling.

Among the fresh features on the two new compact SUVs, the EQA 250+ and EQB 250+, are an updated front grille design featuring a constellation of Mercedes-Benz stars and distinctive new tail-light graphics.

Both variants are powered by an electric motor generating 140kW of power and 385Nm of torque allied to a 70.5kWh battery pack, and ride on adjustable damping suspension

The EQA 250+, pictured above, will gain an extra 54km of range over the outgoing EQA 250 to about 578km under the New European Driving Cycle, while the EQB 250+ promises an additional 57km over the EQB 250 at 564km.

Inside, both models are fitted with the current-generation Mercedes-Benz multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather, featuring touch control buttons and a new Mercedes-Benz backlit pattern trim.

Updates to standard equipment over its predecessors include AMG Line exterior styling featuring AMG body styling, front seats with electric adjustment and memory setting, an advanced sound system, a panoramic sunroof and standard metallic paint.

In addition, the EQB 250+, pictured below, adds a third row of seats as standard, allowing seating for up to seven people.

Other standard equipment includes three-zone automatic climate control, sports-style front seats in Artico and Microcut microfibre with four-way lumbar support, an advanced MBUX multimedia system and interior ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours.

There’s also Keyless-Go entry and startup, a parking package including a 360-degree camera view and active parking assist, LED high-performance headlights with adaptive high beam assist and 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Among the safety systems on both variants are nine airbags, an accident anticipation system, active lane-keeping assist, blind spot assist, traffic sign assist, active braking assist, exit warning function and tyre-pressure monitoring.

The new EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ are priced at $92,500 and $100,900 respectively, including GST and on-road costs.
