Used Polestar 2s being certified

Polestar has introduced battery state of health (BSOH) certificates for used Polestar 2s.
As part of the marque’s pre-owned programme, in which select used cars re-enter its partner network, the certificates “transparently” show battery health and capacity.
By certifying the useable battery as a percentage, the company says customers can purchase a second-hand Polestar 2 with “peace of mind that the battery is in optimal condition”.
Since its launch in 2020, the Polestar 2 has received more than 20 over-the-air software updates, allowing the model to be continuously improved.
These have led to efficiency gains, extending range through battery management, new functionality with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and apps including Waze and YouTube.
With regularly scheduled software updates, pre-owned customers can be assured they have the latest software features in their car, says the marque.
To be certified as a guaranteed pre-owned Polestar, each EV undergoes a rigorous 112-point inspection at an official service point.
Additionally, the company provides independently verified mileage, service and ownership certifications to validate the status of each pre-owned Polestar, which comes a 24-month warranty and the remainder of its eight-year battery warranty.
Michael Lohscheller, chief executive officer, says: “Thanks to our new battery state-of-health certificate, we’ve just added another reason for used EV buyers to purchase a pre-owned Polestar 2. They can be confident they’re getting the very best example of a used car possible.”
Information regarding BSOH certificates for pre-owned Polestar 3s and Polestar 4s will be published in due course.
