Unusual in-car entertainment

There are plenty of competitions around the world involving cars, but one of the most unusual involves rivals grappling with one another in the confined space of a vehicle.

Welcome to the sport of car jitsu, which is essentially Brazilian jiu-jitsu inside a car but where you can use the vehicle’s interior to help force opponents into submission.

This could include dropping a seat back to create more space to manouevre or using a seatbelt to choke a rival.

Competitors start each event seated in the front seats with safety belts fastened and when the match begins, they unbuckle and engage.

Car jitsu was invented in 2020 by Russian jiu-jitsu and judo black belt Vik Mikheev, whose YouTube channel features dozens of fights and has accrued millions of views.

Check out the video below to watch some in-car action and hear Mikheev explain how the niche sport, which has championship events in the US and Russia, came about.
