Tucson summits sales
There were 7,138 new passenger vehicles registered in February, which was up by 2.1 per cent from 6,991 units in the same month of last year.
Hyundai’s Tucson, pictured, was the leading model last month after selling 418 units and accounting for 5.9 per cent of the market. It attracted 16 registrations in February 2025.
The Toyota RAV4 was next after recording 369 sales – a year-on-year drop of 48.7 per cent from 719 – and securing a 5.2 per cent market share.
Mitsubishi’s ASX was the third best-seller in February with 308 units and 4.3 per cent of the market, while the Ford Everest was fourth on 275 and 3.9 per cent. The MG ZS completed the top five with 243 and 3.4 per cent.
Year-to-date, there have been 16,153 sales, which is up by 7.4 per cent from 15,041 at the same stage a year ago.
The RAV4 is the best-selling model so far in 2026 with 1,008 sales and a 6.2 per cent market share. The ASX is second on 800 and five per cent.
Toyota topped the marques’ ladder in February with 946 registrations – down 37.5 per cent from 1,513 in the same month a year ago – and 13.3 per cent of the market.
Kia was second with 673 sales and 9.4 per cent and Mitsubishi came third on 646 and 9.1 per cent. Hyundai and MG were next on the ladder with 524 and 416 units respectively.
Toyota is the leading marque year-to-date with 2,809 registrations and a 17.4 per cent slice of the market.
Next is Mitsubishi with 1,714 registrations and 10.6 per cent, and Kia on 1,661 and 10.3 per cent.
