Toyota NZ says its dealerships will open at Covid-19 alert level three for customers and will operate in a contact-free manner for servicing, selling, providing test drives and delivering vehicles.

Neeraj Lala, chief executive officer, says: “We support the government with its need to act quickly to contain the delta variant.

“As a company, our focus is on ensuring we comply with all health and travel requirements, business continuity and ensuring job stability for our Toyota people.”

Under level three, Toyota’s stores can be open in a contact-free manner with mandatory mask-wearing for all employees. In-store contact tracing will be mandatory for all customers to ensure they are signed in. All transactions will be contactless.

“Sanitising of vehicles and in-store environments will also increase to ensure that we keep customers and staff safe,” adds Lala.

“Our stores will continue to service their local communities. We just ask that customers make an appointment before coming in.”

All car dealerships in the Auckland and Northland regions are still closed at level four except for essential services.

Lala says: “If you are an essential worker and your vehicle breaks down, please contact your local Toyota Store, which will be able to help you.”
