Toyota production increases

Toyota Motor Corporation’s global production increased for the first time in a year in January as it churned out 781,729 vehicles.
The Japanese carmaker’s output was up six per cent year-on-year with domestic production rising 22 per cent to offset a general decline from its factories in other countries.
It attributed the overall increase to a ramp up in output after recovering from last year’s certification scandal in Japan, reports Reuters.
Toyota’s global sales nudged up by 0.1 per cent in January to 785,632 units, the first year-on-year increase in two months.
A 13 per cent surge in domestic sales helped counter a 14 per cent drop in business in China and a one per cent decline in the US.
In Oceania, January’s sales for countries other than Australia fell 11.8 per cent year-on-year to 3,394.
The latest production and sales figures, which include its luxury Lexus brand, were released by Toyota on February 27.
