Three years of ‘free motoring’

Kia has announced an “industry leading” initiative designed to make getting behind the wheel of a new electric car easier as petrol prices skyrocket.

It says it is offering three years of “free motoring” when people buy a new EV3, pictured, or EV5 by paying the on-road costs, three years’ or 45,000km road-user charges and three years of charging fees of $1,500 – and all supported by a complimentary three-year or 45,000km service plan.

The initiative is intended to support owners make a “seamless transition” to electrification and say goodbye to fluctuating fossil-fuel prices.

Todd McDonald, managing director of Kia NZ, says: “Now is the best time to sign up for a Kia EV, especially when fluctuating fuel prices continue to make new-vehicle ownership more difficult for Kiwis.

“As a longtime trusted brand, we have tailored our electric range to meet our customers’ needs. We are confident this initiative can support New Zealanders and make EV ownership easier.”

The deal gets under way the start of April and will run for three months. Customers will be able to sign-up for the initiative at participating dealerships.

McDonald adds: “Kia NZ won the 2025 Roy Morgan ‘best of the best’ award for customer satisfaction. This EV3-EV5 plus service plan initiative enhances the brand’s reputation of trust and credibility.

“We appreciate times are challenging, but the need for clean, economical and accessible motoring doesn’t stop. We hope these initiatives can help introduce many more Kiwis to a sustainable and cost-effective way to meet their mobility requirements.”
