A new, Tesla-compatible version of the mobile game by Vector Unit will be available on every vehicle with an over-the-air software update. Beach Buggy Racing 2 has a twist - it has wiring to the car's brakes and steering wheel.

Tesla owners will be able to play their very own vehicles in the game, with their actual customisation options like paint colour and wheel rims. Cars are controlled using the steering wheel and brake pedal, or with on-screen touch controls. You can even play two-player split-screen with the driver and passenger controlling different cars

Despite using the steering wheel, Beach Buggy Racing 2 only works when the car is in park.

"Today, we’re making these features more accessible for Tesla owners with the launch of Tesla Arcade and Toybox," said Tesla in a statement.

"Tesla Arcade will be the home to a growing catalogue of games, starting with this week's launch of Beach Buggy Racing 2 from game studio Vector Unit.

"Since the launch of Teslatari, we've moved from push-button controls, to incorporating the touchscreen, to launching gamepad support. Beach Buggy takes it one step further - the game uses your car's actual steering wheel and brake pedal to race.

"In addition to the steering controls, Vector Unit worked with our engineers to show your actual vehicle in the game and built a new multiplayer mode that lets you race against a passenger.

"As part of this update, we are also moving all of our hidden Easter Egg modes into a new section of the on-screen UI called 'Toybox.' This will make it easier to find your favourite hidden features, and for new modes to be discovered as they're introduced. We're doing this because it’s a great experience for owners today."

The general public can experience the new Tesla Arcade at Tesla Auckland until June 30.
