Tesla plant breaks record

Tesla delivered nearly 250,000 vehicles from its Shanghai factory during the September quarter, which set a new record for the Chinese plant.

Production levels at the site increased for a third consecutive month in September and took the number of shipments for the third quarter to 249,135.

This was up from the previous best quarterly result of 248,686 in the final three months of 2023, reports Automotive News.

The carmaker shipped 88,321 Model 3 and Model Y units last month, a jump of 19 per cent from the same period a year ago, according to data from China’s Passenger Car Association.

Output from China helped take Tesla’s global third-quarter deliveries to 462,890.
