Swedish marque’s sales jump

Polestar Automotive, the Swedish electric performance-car brand, has reported a 50 per cent year-on-year jump in its global deliveries for the third quarter of 2023.

The company sold about 13,900 units in the third quarter with registrations of its higher-priced, upgraded Polestar 2, pictured, contributing to a strong margin improvement.

With around 41,700 deliveries in the first nine months, year-on-year growth of 37 per cent and Polestar 4 deliveries commencing in China during the fourth quarter, the marque still expects to deliver 60,000-70,000 vehicles this year.

Thomas Ingenlath, chief executive officer, says: “We have delivered a strong quarter and expect higher margins for the rest of the year as we continue to prioritise value over volume in our business.

“We will soon have a compelling range of three distinctive cars, including two luxury SUVs, each addressing an exclusive luxury EV segment. With this, Polestar enters an exciting new period.”
