SUV recalled over crash risk
Hyundai has issued a safety recall for its Tucson over a potential problem with the vehicle’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that may increase the risk of a crash.
A recall notice states the issue, affecting units from the model years 2023-26, is specifically with the car’s forward collision avoidance (FCA) camera.
“In certain driving situations, the FCA system may show increased sensitivity to objects ahead due to the front camera software,” the marque says.
“This may cause the FCA system to engage earlier than expected, potentially resulting in unintended or sudden emergency braking. Sudden braking may increase the risk of a rear-end collision with closely following vehicles.”
The May 21 recall notice for the Tucson, pictured, advises affected owners to contact their local Hyundai dealer or service agent to make a booking to address the matter.
Peugeot 208, model year 2026
Recall issued: May 20. The hazard: On some Peugeot 208 V2 models the lower control arm upper bolts have not been tightened according to specification during assembly. This can result in a loose lower control arm, which may cause a clunking noise and a potential risk of loss of vehicle control. What to do: Contact an authorised Peugeot dealer.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class, model years 2025
Recall issued: May 19. The hazard: The wheel bolts may not meet requirements, which means they may loosen over the vehicle’s lifetime while driving and impair driving stability. What to do: Contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer.
Toyota Alphard, BZ4X, Century, Corolla Cross, Crown, Harrier, Land Cruiser, Mirai, Noah, Prius, RAV4, Sienta, Vellfire, Voxy, Yaris and Yaris Cross, model years 2021-25
Recall issued: May 13. The hazard: Affected used-imported vehicles from Japan have a parking assist electronic control unit (ECU) as part of the panoramic view monitor system that displays the rearview image. The ECU’s software may cause the rearview image to freeze briefly while moving backwards if reverse is selected within a specific time after the ignition is turned on, or the rearview image may not display on the next ignition if it is turned on and off within a specific time. Either scenario may increase the risk of a crash during a backing event. Not all vehicles in the model years are involved. What to do: Owners will be contacted by registered letter and asked to contact an authorised Toyota Store to arrange repairs at no cost. Alternatively, contact Toyota’s customer dialogue centre.
Ford Puma, model years 2026
Recall issued: May 7. The hazard: Affected vehicles may exhibit a right-hand side front half-shaft failure due to an internal fracture of the in-board joint (IBJ) spider. This may lead to the half-shaft no longer transmitting drive to the right-hand wheel. Customers may notice noise and/or vibration, followed by a loss of motive power, which could increase the risk of a crash. What to do: Present to a Ford dealer.
