Supercars help raise $200k

The Giltrap Group has raised more than $200,000 for charity after putting nearly $100 million of exotic vehicles on display at the 2023 Starship Supercar Show.

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2021, the company doubled the length of the show to two days for this year.

The sold-out event at Giltrap’s 119GNR building in Grey Lynn, Auckland, featured a range of supercars, including a number of priceless models loaned by private owners.

Star attractions included the New Zealand debut of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the all-new Lamborghini Countach and McLaren’s Speedtail and Elva.

Another feature for the many visitors through the doors was three New Zealand vehicle launches, with the Lotus Eletre, Polestar 3 and Corvette Z06 all unveiled for the first time in this country.

The show on September 16 and 17 has raised vital money for the Starship Foundation, which invests in improving healthcare for children across New Zealand.

Michael Giltrap, joint managing director of Giltrap Group, says: “The show’s success is all down to the quality of cars, and this couldn’t happen without the owners who share their hugely valuable cars without hesitation. We are exceptionally grateful for their generosity.

“This was a celebration of amazing cars in support of a great cause, and it has exceeded our expectations.

“Along with the individual car owners, we also get great support from across the New Zealand automotive industry. Everyone really does come together to make sure we have the best possible collection of supercars.”

Giltrap Group notes planning is already under way for the 2025 Starship Supercar Show.
