Software issue confirmed
VIA, (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association), has announced that the unusually rapid decline rate in battery readings in 30kWH Nissan Leafs are caused by a software issue.
Flip the Fleet, working with Nissan Leaf owners around New Zealand, reported an unexpected degradation in both range and battery capacity readings in 30kWh Nissan Leafs in early 2018.
They raised the issue with Nissan, who conducted research and testing to investigate Flip the Fleet's observations.
Nissan has now confirmed that range and State of Health readings in Nissan Leaf 30kWh models were compromised, due to a software flaw.
A software patch has been developed and is being independently applied to rectify the problem for imported used Nissan Leafs in New Zealand.
The initial results from vehicles updated with the software patch are very encouraging and should go a long way to restoring consumer confidence in 30kw Leafs.
