Skoda scoops top car prize
The Skoda Octavia has been named car of the year and topped two other categories in an annual awards event in the UK.
The fourth-generation Octavia won the top prize at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2020. It also took out the estate car section and its hatchback variant triumphed in the compact family car category.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief of Auto Express, says: “The new Octavia not only represents all the car you could ever need, but it’s all the car you could ever want, too. It is a very worthy winner, and the Auto Express Car of the Year 2020.”
Skoda added to its haul of silverware as its Superb was named family car of the year – reclaiming a title it last won in 2017.
Auto Express, one of the UK’s most prominent car publications, handed out more than 25 gongs as part of the awards.
