Self-driving car defies cop

A self-driving taxi ended up in an amusing stand-off with a police officer after being stopped on a busy American street.

The motorcycle cop is seen in the video gesturing for the high-tech Jaguar vehicle to turn, but instead of responding to the officer’s ongoing commands the car simply comes to a halt.

The confused passengers in the video posted by TikTok user @johnnyromano3  can be heard laughing and telling the officer there’s no one behind the wheel.

“Sir, we cannot move,” one of them says. “We’re sorry. This car won’t let us move. We’re not driving.”

The incident reportedly happened in Phoenix, Arizona, during a parade in April this year, reports SupercarBlondie.com.

Waymo, which operates the vehicle, says the taxi pulled to the side of the road, performed a multi-point turn and moved out of the blocked lane about 90 seconds after the encounter with the officer.
