Seagull swipes parking ticket

A motorist may soon be in for a “nasty surprise” after a cheeky seagull flew off with a parking ticket from a car windscreen.

The feathered thief was spotted tampering with the notice on a vehicle that was parked illegally in the city of Brighton on England’s south coast.

James Earley caught the gull’s audacious act on camera as the bird first pecked at the ticket before clasping it in its beak and flying away.

“I expected it to fly off when I tried to take a photo but it just ignored me and was determined to get the ticket,” he says.

Earley adds the car’s owner will get a “nasty surprise” when they receive a letter informing them of a late fine payment.

Images of the bird’s funny behaviour were recently posted to Facebook page Brighton People, reports the Argus news site, and users were quick to comment.

One said: “I’d like to think the seagull had good intentions taking it in order to prevent the car owner from penalties. But then again... It’s a seagull. So that might be wishful thinking.”
