Santa crashes sleigh into wall

A festive spectacle ended in disaster when Santa’s sleigh travelled through the skies of a Mexican town before smashing into the side of a two-storey building.
Crowds watched the red-suited man, who was not hurt in the incident, wave as he travelled about 10 metres above the ground in a special vehicle hoisted on wires.
Santa can be heard in the video shouting, “Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas”, seconds before the crane-operated sleigh hit the wall of the building.
The dramatic and rather amusing moment came on the opening night of a series of holiday events in the town of Apizaco in 2019, reports the Daily Mail.
According to media reports at the time, the crash was blamed on the excess weight of two life-sized reindeer figurines that were attached to the sleigh, causing it to fly lower than expected on its 200m journey.
Julio Cesar Hernandez Mejia, then Apizaco mayor, tried to downplay the mishap. “The show was planned,” he said. “There was no problem. However, there was a minor issue when the sleigh leaned to the side and it becomes an anecdote.”
