Right-to-repair support

Xpeng is working with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA) to support the country’s motor-vehicle service and repair information sharing scheme (MVIS).

The MVIS started across the Tasman in 2022 as the country’s first right-to-repair law, establishing a level playing field for independent repairers and broadening genuine choice for consumers.

In New Zealand, debate continues over right to repair after proposed legislation was dismissed by parliament in late October 2025 after Marama Davidson, Green party co-leader and the MP leading the push for change, turned up late for the second reading of her member’s bill.

This work, XPENG ANZ has been supporting authorised and independent repair networks with access to eligible service and repair information in accordance with MVIS requirements.

The company’s technical onboarding with the AASRA is expected to be completed over the coming months. It says it will continue working with the AASRA and the wider industry to support access to eligible service and repair information in accordance with MVIS requirements.

Brenton Dalton, national service development manager of Xpeng ANZ, says: “Supporting the right to repair is the right thing to do. Customers should have the freedom to choose where they service their vehicle and we support initiatives that improve access to repair information.

“Our role is to support customer choice while earning preference through the quality, transparency and convenience of the authorised Xpeng service experience.”
