‘Purposeful and striking’

Genesis’s X Gran Equator is the brand’s first adventure vehicle concept with its exterior emphasising clean lines and uncluttered surfaces.

A long bonnet, sleek cabin and fast C-pillar create a silhouette that “defies” traditional SUV conventions, while dark wheel-arch cladding and 24-inch beadlocks underscore its off-road readiness.

Luc Donckerwolke, chief creative officer of Genesis, says: “The X Gran Equator Concept is an exercise in harmonising contrasts by combining elegance with ruggedness and the spirit of exploration with refined comfort.

“It represents the orchestration of true off-road competence and luxury, designed to enable the discovery of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes.”

The geometric auxiliary lamps and split-opening tailgate blend practicality with Genesis’ signature two-line headlamps to make the concept look “as purposeful as it is striking”.

Inside, there is a contrast between analogue architecture and digital technologies, crafting a space that feels functional and evocative. At the centre of the cabin is a four-circle display cluster on the centre stack inspired by the dials of vintage cameras.

The interior design features contrasting colours and shapes. The dash’s linear architecture and absence of decoration “focus the driver’s attention on the journey ahead”, while swivelling front seats and modular storage solutions enhance practicality.

The X Gran Equator Concept signals Genesis’ expansion into lifestyle-orientated vehicles. While not confirmed for production, its design language and innovations, such as the integrated roof rails and split-opening tailgate, showcase the brand’s future design potential.
