Pig car hogs the limelight
A farmer has transformed a “cheap old banger” into a car that looks like a pig as he prepares to embark on a nine-day charity drive around the UK.
Nathan Lister, from Suffolk, England, snapped up a Citroen Picasso for £300 (about NZ$624) and with the help of friends has painted it bright pink and added a snout, tail, ears and eyelashes.
The 25-year-old will set off for John o’ Groats in Scotland in the colourful car – nicknamed Pigasso – on May 11 before heading south to Land’s End in Cornwall, England. He then plans to be back in Suffolk on May 19.
Lister was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma when he was 22 but is now in remission. The road trip is raising funds for the hospital that cared for him during his cancer treatment and for Cancer Research UK, reports the BBC.
He says people have called him “mad” for giving the Citroen a porcine revamp but he explains he trained as a car mechanic before becoming a farmer, “so making it roadworthy was easy”.
Lister’s journey can be followed via a dedicated Facebook page.
