Owner crashes Ferrari hours after pick up
A two-year wait for a Ferrari quickly turned to tears after the new owner crashed it just six hours after picking up the keys.
The Ferrari F8 Tributo, worth about €360,000 (NZ$607,000), was collected by a German man in Berlin but later that day he crashed it into a concrete barrier on a road near the town of Vogelsberg.
The impact ripped off one of the rear wheels before the Italian supercar then collided with a minibus and struck a guardrail.
Local police say the 720-horsepower vehicle was still on summer tyres but the road at the time was too wet for those. They also claim the 43-year-old driver was probably going at “inappropriate speeds”.
The driver escaped the crash on March 13 unhurt, while his passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
