Our new website has launched

Darren Wiltshire, director of 4 Media, managed the project, firstly adding tracking tools and heat maps to identify what areas of the original site were of interest to readers.

“This allowed us to gather data about what our readers find most interesting, which parts of the site get the most use and, conversely, what they find least interesting,” says Wiltshire.

"The new designs accommodate the latest thinking in user experience and design. They also provide an easy-to-navigate website that works seamlessly."

"Navigation around the site has been revamped to make it easier for readers to get to parts we know from our analytics and feedback that they find the most valuable, such as news stores and the monthly magazine."

Fully optimised for any device, be it a mobile device, tablet, laptop or desktop, our new site will allow you to keep up to date with the auto industry, whether you're at your desk or on the move.

Featured priority news

"Having a custom-built content management system (CMS) makes it easier to add extra sections as the industry is impacted by various challenges, such as the stink-bug issue and more recently the airbag recall," says Wiltshire. "This type of ongoing priority news will in future be easy to post, manage and - most importantly - be a much better user experience. We really hope our readers enjoy it."

History

While our magazine has been serving the motor-vehicle industry for more than 30 years, the first website was launched back in May 2009. This was upgraded in November 2013 to provide a more user-friendly resource for people to keep up to date with news that matters.

Now, after monitoring usage to see what readers respond to and taking advice from industry experts, we believe the new site will deliver a much better experience.
