Getting smart on transport

Co-operative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) are the hot topic for hundreds of attendees at T-Tech 2025 at the University of Auckland over the next two days.
Local leaders, experts and researchers have been joined by their international colleagues at New Zealand’s annual transport technology conference, being hosted by International Transport Systems NZ (ITSNZ) on July 9 and 10.
Innovative technologies are a feature of the conference, which this year has a “positive impact through smarter transport” theme, with more than 50 local and international speakers covering subjects as diverse as data, AI, cybersecurity, integrated mobility and connected systems.
Other experts will present on smart transport modelling, demand management and transport pricing, and safe and resilient infrastructure.
International guests include US expert Michele Mueller, manager for connected, automated vehicles and electrification at Michigan’s Department of Transportation, who specialises in advanced technologies.
She will be joined by keynote speaker Nina Elter, chief executive of German strategic advisory firm Newroad Consulting, who has more than 25 years’ experience in transport and technology, and specialises in infrastructure funding, road safety and sustainable development.
Other notable presenters include Ministry of Transport chief of staff Brent Johnston, Victoria’s Department of Transport and Planning AIMES programme director Nick Collins, New Zealand Transport Agency engineering team leader Dr Ranjan Pant, and Siemens’ mobility-as-a-service Asia-Pacific regional business manager Silas Wong.
