Opening of Turners North Shore

New lease of life for Turners' North Shore site following NZTA compulsory acquisition.

Turners Cars is celebrating the opening of its new North Shore site at 201 Archers Rd, Wairau Valley, just six months after the NZTA compulsory acquisition of the original site in Albany.

The extension of the Northern Busway and plans for the new Rosedale Busway Station saw the site compulsorily acquired by the agency in 2018.

Turners says it was a cloud with plenty of silver linings, as the business was fast outgrowing its old site.

The new site in Northcote is of a similar size but with a much better configuration and more closely located to the retail centre of Wairau Valley. The team expects to be selling in excess of 2,000 cars a year from the site.

“We were always going to keep a presence on the North Shore. I’m a Shore boy myself and I know it’s a huge area of opportunity”, says Turners CEO, Greg Hedgepeth. “Being in the Wairau Valley is perfect for us and the team is champing at the bit to get into their new purpose-built branch and start helping Kiwis buy and sell some cars.”

Turners Cars is the largest buyer and seller of used cars in New Zealand and the 250 cars ready for sale at Archers Road site will be added to the national tally of over 4,000 cars.

The North Shore branch brings the total of branches nationwide to 21. The nine branches in Auckland are expected to hold in excess of 1,600 cars – offering a huge mix of makes and models for people to choose from. Of course, with a huge volume of cars to sell, there are some great deals to be had.

With a long term view to the changing dynamics of the automotive industry, Turners Automotive Group has recently invested in a tech-based car-sharing and vehicle subscription business in Australia. Collaborate owns Drive My Car, Australia’s leading peer to peer car rental business; and Carly, the first truly flexible car subscription offering.
