Nissan pushes back EV release
Nissan has further delayed the release date of its Ariya B6 SUV, blaming the latest postponement on the global shortage of semiconductors and other supply chain disruptions.
The Ariya, Nissan's second all-electric model after the Leaf, was originally due to go on sale in mid-2021 but Covid-related microchip shortages saw that plan pushed back.
It was then due to be launched in late March this year but following the latest announcement is now set to be available in Japan from May 12, reports Reuters.
Sales in Europe and the United States will follow later in the year, the Japanese carmaker says.
A limited-edition version of the SUV went on sale in Japan as planned in January.
