Next-gen models on display

Omoda and Jaecoo kicked off the 2025 Shanghai International Auto Show by unveiling the next-generation of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) – the C7 SHS, C5 SHS and J5 BEV – designed to accelerate the future of hybrid and electric mobility.
The Omoda C7 SHS with a range of 1,250km blends “advanced hybrid performance with outstanding fuel efficiency”. It leads the way with the two brands’ SHS technology.
Jaecoo’s J5 BEV is an all-electric SUV and combines off-road capability with zero-emissions power. This vehicle represents a “bold expansion” into the EV segment.
Omoda’s C5 SHS is a crossover that offers “an urban hybrid experience that integrates cutting-edge design” with the latest hybrid technology, and is billed as “perfect for city dwellers seeking a balance of style and efficiency”.
Each model is powered by a “super hybrid system” (SHS), which integrates a 1.5TGDI engine, intelligent hybrid transmission (DHT), and dedicated hybrid batteries for fuel efficiency and long-range capability. These advancements deliver up to 151.6km of pure-electric range.
Shawn Xu, pictured, chief executive officer of automobile international, says: “This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
“As we continue to grow, we are not just unveiling vehicles we are creating experiences that redefine how we connect with the future of mobility.”
Omoda and Jaecoo’s global presence continues to expand. In the first quarter of 2025, they reported a 370 per cent surge in NEV sales to become the fastest-growing hybrid brands in the world.
After a successful launch in Spain last year, they have expanded into seven major European markets within 14 months, establishing more than 300 showrooms.
Global expansion is evidenced by 1,300-plus showrooms and 500,000 vehicles delivered worldwide, while a research and development centre and local production facility have been established in Europe.
