New boss for ANCAP

James Goodwin has been announced as the new chief executive officer of ANCAP to replace Nick Clarke. He joins the organisation from the Australian Automobile Association where he was the director government relations and communications, as well as a period as acting chief executive. He also worked for the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries following a career in journalism in Sydney and Canberra. “I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead ANCAP through its next chapter and look forward to the challenge of building on its excellent record of achievements,” says Goodwin. “James will play a vital role in leading ANCAP into the future and continuing efforts to improve the safety of vehicles,” says Wendy Machin, ANCAP chair and NRMA deputy president. “He brings a wealth of consumer, motoring, communications and advocacy skills to the organisation, which will be invaluable in building and maintaining new and existing relationships with stakeholders. James has fantastic knowledge of the vehicle industry and is a strong advocate for improving consumers’ understanding of safety technology.” Goodwin will start with ANCAP in October. His appointment follows Clarke’s resignation after 10 years with ANCAP.
