New BMW Coupe released in Shanghai

BMW have introduced the new M4 CS at the Shanghai Auto Show, a special-edition two-door that sits between the Coupe and GTS in the M4 line-up. A 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine generates 343kW and 600Nm of torque, with a top speed electronically limited to 280km/h. 0-100km takes 3.9 seconds, and fuel consumption has been rated at 8.4l/100km. A seven-speed M double-clutch transmission comes as standard, which allows automated gear changes and manual interventions with the use of paddles on the steering wheel. The ‘Adaptive-M’ suspension system in the CS closely matches the M4 Competition model, with upgraded dampers and electric power steering. At the Nürburgring, the M4 CS achieved a lap time of 7:30, which puts it in the super-sports car class. The dynamic stability control system means the driver can use three different driving modes – comfort, sport and sport+ – to adjust the suspension and differential systems to suit road conditions. Light-alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot sport tyres come as standard. A carbon fibre-reinforced plastic bonnet and roof is both lightweight and aerodynamic, and features an exposed carbon-fibre front splitter exclusive to the model. The rear diffuser, carried over from the M4 GTS, also minimises dynamic lift. Pricing for the M4 CS Coupe starts at $136,295, with deliveries expected in the third quarter of 2017. Approximately 200 to 300 units of the vehicle are expected to be produced. There's no word yet on a New Zealand launch.
