MITO celebrates success
MITO is gearing to recognise outstanding achievement in vocational education and workforce development with the launch of its inaugural industry summit and awards.
This flagship event is designed for employers, leaders and stakeholders from across the automotive, commercial road transport, extractives, drilling, gas and logistics sectors.
The summit, a one-day conference, will offer the opportunity to hear from the government, explore new ideas and technologies, and gain insights into business leadership.
And MITO’s industry awards will celebrate excellence, recognising outstanding individuals and organisations making a difference.
The event is taking place at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington on September 1 and attendance is complimentary. Registrations of interest to attend are open and can be made by clicking here.
The day will bring together industry leaders, employers, educators and trainees from across MITO’s sectors. Te Radar is MC for the event. Guest speakers include Brad Olsen, of Infometrics, David Galbraith, business and leadership coach, Dr Michelle Dickinson, an engineer and technologist, and Mike Casey, of Rewiring Aotearoa.
The awards will recognise businesses, schools, supervisors and learners who help shape the motu’s workforce – from building skills and capability to supporting learners, strengthening pathways and preparing for the future. Nominations close on July 3 and judging ends on July 31. Click here to nominate someone.
Entries will be assessed against specific criteria by a panel with expertise in industry, education and training. The judges will consider evidence of excellence, impact, leadership and outcomes relevant to each category across MITO’s industries.
The categories include training business of the year, supervisor of the year, secondary school of the year, the lifetime achievement award for industry training, best promotion of trades careers, inclusive training business of the year, learner of the year and LTSC training company of the year.
Reasons to enter include celebrating excellence and achievement in training, raising the profile of vocational pathways and trades careers, showcasing best practice and innovation across industries, and gaining national recognition as a leader in training.
