Minister to announce new transport fund

The Minister of Transport is set to release details of a new fund when he is the guest speaker at the annual general meeting of Intelligent Transport Systems New Zealand  (ITSNZ) on November 24.

Michael Wood will join people from across the transport and technology sectors for the webinar event and announce the Waka Kotahi Innovation Fund, as well as providing an update on the government’s transport priorities.

He is also expected to discuss his views on the importance of technologies and innovation to achieve the government’s transport goals.

Wood, pictured, will give his address between noon and 12.30pm, ahead of the AGM which is set to run until 2pm.

Awards for the best paper and presentations from the T-Tech Reboot series will be announced at the meeting, along with reports on the work of ITSNZ over the past year.

The board of directors for 2021/23 will also be voted in during the event, with nominations open until the end of November 19.

ITSNZ president Stephen Hewett is stepping down after nine years on the board. Amy Strang, youth and diversity board member and a co-founder of Young Transport Professionals, and Helen Fitt, academia board member, are also doing the same after having served two-year terms.
