Mini model’s limited run
A special-edition Mini Cooper is set to arrive in New Zealand in the final months of this year and will be limited to eight units for the local market.
The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition celebrates the brand’s British roots and 25 years of its modern Mini by incorporating Union Jack-inspired design details on the Cooper 3-door.
The classic Mini was first built in Oxford, UK, in 1959, and since 2001, BMW Group has been producing the modern version of the vehicles at the same site.
A Union Jack covers the roof of the Oxford Edition, while the central red and white stripe of the flag runs along the length of the car as a key design element.
The car will be available in New Zealand in one exterior paint finish, Indigo Sunset Blue, complemented by white mirror caps. It also boasts 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone wheels.
On the inside, the Union Jack theme continues with a textured printed flag on the steering wheel element.
The floor mats feature a circular Union Jack on the driver’s side, while the passenger-side mat has a circular chequered flag element as a nod to Mini’s racing heritage.
Alexander Brockhoff, general manager of Mini Australia and New Zealand, says: “The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition pays tribute to the birthplace of Mini and the character that has made the brand so loved around the world.
“With a limited NZ allocation, this edition gives our local Mini fans a rare opportunity to own a car that celebrates both the brand’s British heritage and its spirit of individuality.”
A number of lifestyle products have also been made to complement the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition, including a traveller bag, T-shirts, a cap and a Mini umbrella walking stick.
Pricing and full specifications for the model will be announced closer to launch.
