Mazda launches special range

Mazda has unveiled a 100th Anniversary Special Edition series that is going on sale for a limited period to mark the centenary of the company’s foundation.

The latest models adopt a white-and-burgundy two-tone colour co-ordination that featured on the marque’s first passenger vehicle, the R360 Coupe, in 1960.

David Hodge, managing director of Mazda New Zealand, says today’s vehicles have come a long way since the R360 but they all share the same design, driving technology and desire for innovation.

“The R360 Coupe had a futuristic design and unique technologies including a four-cycle engine, automatic transmission and extensive weight reduction to make it more nimble on the road,” he adds. “It was designed for people who wanted to fulfil their dream of owning their own car and enjoy the thrill of driving. This still drives Mazda today.”

The special edition models will feature the brand’s anniversary logo on the hubcaps, headrests and key fobs, while the floor carpet, floor mats and seats use the same burgundy that was introduced with the Mazda3.

The anniversary range will be available across all current passenger carlines and Mazda NZ will advise timing and model availability soon.
