Maserati redraws boundaries

Maserati has announced the creation of a new overseas region, which will cover New Zealand, after reshaping the borders of its global operations.

The luxury carmaker now has five regions in its market organisation, with these being US and Canada, Europe, China, Japan and Korea, and the newly created overseas one.

Hamdy Elshantoury, pictured, has been appointed by the Italian marque as head of the new region.

Maserati explains the changes have meant redistributing some markets that were previously part of the former regions and merging them into a new one.

It adds each region has a relevant marketing team to act as a gateway for partners and the dealer network in everyday activities and initiatives.

Elshantoury and the overseas region team will be based at Maserati’s headquarters in Modena, Italy, to keep them closely connected with the company’s central management.

The marque says this will make the support to markets and the decision-making process faster and more effective.

Conversely, the overseas market management team will remain in the region with close contacts to its countries.

Davide Grasso, Maserati chief executive officer, says: “We are pleased to begin the year with the announcement of a new global region and the appointment of Hamdy Elshantoury as its head.

“Maserati operates in more than 70 markets around the world and the creation of a fifth region confirms the intention to give our business an even more precise and specific configuration at a global level, to better cover and respond to individual market requirements, and to give each area the attention it requires to improve its development and efficiency.”
