Marque unveils tiny EV

Toyota has launched a new car that is being dubbed an “ultra compact” electric vehicle (EV) with seating capacity for two adults.
To start off, sales will be restricted to local government bodies, corporate users and other Japanese organisations planning to go electric in their fleets. A full-scale launch for the masses is slated to take place in 2022.
The Toyota C+Pod measures just 2,490mm in length, 1,550mm in height and is 1,290mm wide. It boasts a turning radius of just 3.9 metres.
It derives power from a 9.06kWh lithium-ion battery mounted under the floor. It powers an electric motor on the rear axle and delivers a total output of 12hp and 56Nm of peak torque.
Toyota says the C+Pod has a range of 150km – as per WLTC class-one mode testing conditions – and can be charged to its full capacity in five hours on a 200V/16A power supply.
On a standard 100V/6A power supply, the charging time jumps to 16 hours.
The C+Pod has been launched in two variants, the X and G. The X trim is priced at ¥1.65 million while the G trim starts at ¥1.71m.
