Marque predicts boom time ahead

Polestar predicts its annual sales will soar by nearly 60 per cent this year with about 80,000 cars being delivered worldwide.
The electric performance car brand’s outlook comes after it announced preliminary full-year sales of 51,500 units for 2022, an increase of 80 per cent from the previous year.
Its latest figures were bolstered by about 21,000 vehicles being delivered in the fourth quarter of last year.
The Swedish marque anticipates activity in 2023 will be led by strong Polestar 2 sales and later in the year the first deliveries of Polestar 3, pictured.
Thomas Ingenlath, chief executive officer, says: “I’m proud of the many milestones we achieved in 2022 and in particular the massive team effort that went into delivering our strongest quarter to date – surpassing our 50,000 global volumes target for the year.
“We are now fully focused on 2023. There will be the usual quarterly variations, but I’m confident that we will continue to actively manage our supply chain to meet the growing demand for Polestar 2, commence first deliveries of Polestar 3 and launch Polestar 4.”
Sporty success
Bugatti has also reported a record year, with 80 new hand-built hyper sports cars being delivered worldwide in 2022.
The French luxury marque notes that among last year’s deliveries were the 400th Chiron model, the W16 Mistral that made its debut in August, and 10 examples of the Centodieci.
Bugatti opened a number of design-led showrooms across its dealer network during the past year, as the company shifts from being a hyper sports car manufacturer to establishing itself as a wider-reaching luxury brand. Further showroom openings are planned for 2023.
Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti Automobiles, says: “Like all first-class international luxury brands competing at the very top level of design and performance excellence, Bugatti encountered various challenges in 2022. But with a team that’s unmatched in terms of talent, passion and dedication, Bugatti has once again met such challenges head on, creating and realising exciting opportunities.”
