Marque mourns ‘face of Suzuki in Auckland’

Suzuki New Zealand has paid tribute to long-serving employee Kevin Loft, who has died at the age of 65.

The company’s northern regional manager for nearly 24 years was the “face of Suzuki in Auckland” with its dealer network, fleet customers, journalists, sponsors and other associates.

Loft, pictured right with Suzuki Motor Corporation president Toshihiro Suzuki, passed away peacefully at Auckland City Hospital on September 2 surrounded by his family.

In a Facebook post, Suzuki NZ says there was no day the same for Loft and his immediate colleagues as they were often given a variety of tasks with little notice.

“We knew we could rely on Kevin to get the job done with total professionalism and a warm smile with everyone he dealt with,” it adds.

“Kevin was far from just an employee and became a great friend to many of us at Suzuki New Zealand, our dealers, and everyone he dealt with.

“Kevin has been pivotal in helping make Suzuki the company we are today.

“We have been simply overwhelmed by emails from people who have had the pleasure of knowing Kevin, praising what an amazing person he was.”

The company notes besides being dedicated to his work, Loft was also passionate about his family and all forms of sport – especially triathlon.

Loft leaves behind his wife Linda, two children and two grandchildren.
