Marque makes engine blunder
Audi New Zealand is apologising to scores of customers after accidentally registering and selling more than 100 Q3 vehicles with incorrect engine information.
A technical data sheet listed the luxury SUV being sold locally as having a 1.5-litre engine with seven-speed transmission when it was actually fitted with a 1.4-litre engine and six-speed transmission, reports the NBR.
It says Audi NZ and its dealerships only found out about the mix-up a month ago and the problem affects models sold over the past year.
NBR notes incorrect fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions figures were also provided on the data sheet, with the vehicle’s actual numbers higher than those identified.
Audi is distributed in New Zealand by the Giltrap Group’s European Motor Distributors, whose chief executive Glynn Tulloch told NBR the problem involves 146 customers and about 60 vehicles had already been incorrectly registered.
The company was apologising to customers for the error and offering them a two-year extension on their three-year warranty.
Tulloch told NBR the details for the Q3 available in New Zealand have been corrected online and steps taken so the right information is provided to Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency for its databases.
