Mario Kart brought to life

Serial prankster Remi Gaillard brought Mario Kart to the real world with hilarious results as he whizzed around the streets of France.

The Frenchman dressed like Mario to re-enact the famous computer game complete with randomly tossing bananas at other vehicles and the whole skit accompanied by retro Nintendo sound effects.

He is also seen overtaking and cutting in front of slower cars during the stunt, which was filmed in 2008 and has amassed more than 80 million views.

It would appear the police were less than impressed with his antics. Although after they are briefly distracted, Gaillard jumps back into his kart and makes a quick getaway as the footage ends with a police van in hot pursuit.
