THE TRUSTED VOICE OF NZ’s
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY SINCE 1984

October issue out now

Autofile reports on problems with the clean car discount. And, if you sell used imports and have been left scratching your head because of Rightcar’s ratings, you’re not alone.

The reply to our Official Information Act request shows Waka Kotahi received 370 enquiries relating to incorrect emissions data during the scheme’s first three months and had to refund about $59,000.

The government has still yet to issue implementation regulations for the clean car standard. The Minister of Transport expects to confirm these in “the coming months”, but the scheme is due to launch on January 1. Find out why industry associations are far from impressed and what it means for traders.

It’s business as usual with stink bugs now the peak season for the critters has started. But there’s a twist. Biosecurity NZ officers are back in Japan checking our border inspection organisations for the first time since the pandemic started.

The Financial Services Federation hopes the latest round of changes to lending laws will enable buyers get more access to loans. And it’s keeping its fingers crossed the amendments will be the last for some time.

2 Cheap Cars has seen its proportion of electrified-vehicle sales jump as the feebate scheme influences demand. Plus: parent company NZ Automotive Investments’ plans for the future.

VIA’s Kit Wilkerson gives his views on parallel imports. Are two sectors of our industry separated by legislation and government policy, he ponders.

And it’s time for full and frank feedback from franchises with the MTA’s annual dealer attitude survey.

Plus: AdTorque Edge’s Todd Fuller, movers and shakers, developments with EVs globally and – of course – the best coverage of New Zealand car statistics for September.
