Made for down under
Leading Australian OEM automotive engineering company Premcar is carrying out in-market testing and validation of the all-new Chery Stockman.
The aim of the project is to ensure the ute is comprehensively assessed against the unique demands of Australian roads, conditions and customer expectations.
The collaboration marks an important milestone in developing Chery's first ute ahead of its down-under launch with Premcar conducting an extensive local testing and validation programme that will assess ride and handling tuning before its local release.
Australia is recognised globally as one of the toughest environments for ute development. The validation programme will ensure the Stockman delivers Chery’s ride and handling attributes, which are aimed at meeting buyers’ expectations.
Lucas Harris, chief operating officer of Chery Motor Australia and New Zealand, says partnering with Premcar demonstrates a commitment to delivering a ute designed to meet local expectations.

Premcar has 30 years of experience in engineering, testing and developing new vehicles for Australian conditions, having delivered programmes for global automotive manufacturers.

The Chery Stockman is the brand’s first ute and represents a significant expansion of its Australasian product portfolio, joining its rapidly growing SUV range. Further details will be announced closer to the Stockman’s arrival across the ditch in late 2026.
