Lexus NZ breaks sales record

Lexus New Zealand has set a new annual sales record after selling 1,309 cars and SUVs last year, up from its previous high of 1,023 in 2022.
The company predicts more success in 2024 with new dealerships, models and events planned.
A new store is being developed in Christchurch and Lexus of Auckland is set to move from Grey Lynn to Newmarket this year.
Meanwhile, the brand is also preparing to launch a new entry model, the LBX compact SUV, in early 2024.
The Lexus NZ portfolio includes hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric options and 90 per cent of its 2023 sales were electrified.
Average tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions across the portfolio are down to 119g of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometre compared with 121g in 2022.
Neeraj Lala, chief executive, says last year’s record sales reflect the growing demand for low-emitting, electrified powertrains coupled with the luxury marque’s “premium technology, body and interiors”.
“Lexus as a brand is maturing and customers are coming back to Lexus as they truly understand what Lexus stands for. Lexus not only offers amazing design, a premium cabin, high performance, and outstanding reliability, but also a route to decarbonisation and sustainability,” he adds.
“We have built our brand in New Zealand by bringing in technological innovation when the market has required it.”
