Lexus hails record sales
Lexus New Zealand is celebrating record annual sales of 1,328 vehicles last year, which it says is up from 1,022 in 2022.
Andrew Davis, vice-president, says the company’s growth can largely be attributed to customer appreciation of its expanding electrified product range and to the Lexus dealer network continuing to invest in its dealerships during the past year.
He praised the commitment of its Lexus dealership partners to the brand during a year beset with challenging economic conditions across many industries.
“It has been another incredible year of growth in the Lexus dealer network, with some completing new builds or embarking on substantial renovations,” he explains.
“We have been delighted in the way our dealership partners have been standing behind the brand; their commitment has brought overall success.”
New Lexus of Christchurch and Lexus of Auckland City dealerships opened in 2024 and the new Lexus of East Auckland is set to open in March 2025 along with the relocation of Lexus of Wellington.
The marque’s range of electrified vehicles is also the broadest it has ever been, from the recently introduced LBX to SUVs and high-performance coupes.
More models are planned to boost the line-up in 2025, including the new NX 450h+ Limited, the first plug-in hybrid variant in the RX range and the limited edition RX 500h Black Line.
“Luxury customers have high expectations on the brands they associate with so there is a lot of competition and now choice in the luxury market,” says Davis.
“With the introduction of a new plug-in hybrid [PHEV] variant in the RX range, Lexus is continuing to reach more Kiwis than ever before with our multi-pathway approach and powertrain for everyone.”
Lexus adds other highlights of the past year have included launching the LBX hybrid model and the LBX Morizo RR, pictured.
The company offers 11 model ranges in New Zealand – nine of which include a hybrid, PHEV or battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrain – and 88 per cent of its sales in 2024 were electrified.
Lexus has sold more than 16,000 new vehicles since it was established in New Zealand in 1990.
