Armstrong’s hails first with Lexus

Lexus will have a new home in Auckland when a standalone dealership opens at Armstrong’s large automotive precinct on Ti Rakau Drive, Botany, in March.

To be a new showroom, Lexus of East Auckland is the marque’s first franchise with Armstrong’s, one of New Zealand’s largest independent automotive groups.

Being built on a 7,000-square-metre site, the 600sqm showroom will host a customer lounge, barista cafe, dining area and business areas for customers. Included on-site will be a parts and service centre plus a full-service tyre centre.

Troy Kennedy, Armstrong’s chief executive officer, says the development marks a milestone for the company as it expands its footprint in the Auckland region.

“We are committed to meeting the evolving needs of customers while supporting the future of sustainable mobility,” says Kennedy.

“Our investment in East Auckland reflects our confidence in the region’s growth, and Lexus’ ongoing dedication to innovation and sustainability.

“As more drivers shift toward hybrid and electric vehicles, we aim to provide a premium, forward-thinking experience that aligns with their values. This dealership will not only strengthen our presence in Auckland, but will also demonstrate our belief in Lexus as a leader in sustainable luxury.”

The building has been designed by Chow:Hill, which has designed other Armstrong’s projects and many high-profile commercial buildings, including dealerships in Auckland and Hamilton.

Lexus NZ’s vice-president, Andrew Davis, says the new dealership strongly reflects where the marque is heading in this country.

“The investment in new and refurbished dealerships from our partners highlights the strength of our brand, and our excitement for the sustainable future of Lexus here,” he adds.

Other Lexus franchise partners around the country are investing in the marque. In May, a new Lexus of Christchurch site opened in Tuam Street. A new Lexus of Auckland City site opened on November 1 in Newmarket and Lexus of Wellington plans to move to a new location in Taranaki Street in early 2025.
