Lease vehicles deal struck

Turners has been appointed to handle the remarketing of all FleetPartners’s ex-lease vehicles in the Kiwi market.

The move follows FleetPartners NZ deciding to close its end-of-lease retail and wholesale channels – AutoSelect and E-Tender.

The two companies already enjoy a longstanding relationship, with Turners providing end-of-lease services and remarketing for a small proportion of FleetPartners’ vehicles.

Russell Webber, managing director of FleetPartners, says: “Outsourcing the sale of our end-of-lease vehicles will allow us to focus on our core business of vehicle leasing to New Zealand businesses.

“As our customers are located all around the country, Turners is well-placed to remarket our ex-lease vehicles through its 30 branches nationwide. The public will gain more access to our premium and well-maintained vehicles coming off-lease.”

Greg Hedgepeth, chief executive of Turners’ automotive retail division, adds: “We’ve come a long way in the past few years in regard to developing our retail capabilities.

“FleetPartners appointing us to handle all its retail remarketing is a great recognition of all the work and investment that has gone into our retail optimisation strategy.”

He says this is transforming Turners from the predominantly auction-based operation it was 10 years ago “into what we are today – a multi-channel operation with a high-performing retail channel”.

Hedgepeth, pictured, adds Turners has secured the business because it is “unique” in the market thanks to its size and scale, digital innovation, market penetration and multi-channel approach.

“We are confident that we offer the best solution for the remarketing of lease vehicles in New Zealand,” he says.

“We’ll continue to work hard to make sure we maximise FleetPartners’ remarketing results in what we believe will be a long and profitable partnership for both organisations.”

AutoSelect’s retail branches Auckland and Christchurch will close on September 30.

Both organisations are working together to find opportunities to redeploy AutoSelect staff within FleetPartners and Turners around the country.
