Interim CEO brings ‘stability’
Wayne Scott has been appointed as interim chief executive officer of MotorSport New Zealand after the resignation of Elton Goonan from the top job.
Scott, pictured, says he has received a “tremendous amount of support” in recent weeks from colleagues and motorsport stakeholders as he gets to understand how the office works.
“I’m very pleased to be able to help the sport by stepping into this role to help lead the organisation and assist the board while they work through their plans for a permanent CEO appointment,” he adds.
“While I am very much still just getting my feet under the desk, I do want to reiterate that along with the rest of the team, we are here to help.”
Scott, who took up his role last month, previously served as MotorSport NZ’s chief steward and on the organisation’s executive. He is also well regarded as an FIA steward after officiating for motorsport’s global governing body at international events.
An accountant by qualification, he has held a range of senior management positions during his professional career.
Deborah Day, MotorSport NZ president, says: “We are delighted to have Wayne as our interim CEO to provide stability as we search for a permanent CEO who will lead the organisation into the future.
“His leadership and experience in motorsport and his professional career will ensure a smooth transition and continued progress for the organisation.”
